Whangamata Golf Club

The Whangamata Golf Club is an 18-hole course set among native bush and rolling terrain on the edge of town. It offers a challenging and scenic round of golf for both members and visitors, with views across the town to the ocean. The club is known for its friendly atmosphere, well-maintained greens and welcoming approach to visiting players.

The Course

The Whangamata Golf Club is a par 70, 18-hole course measuring approximately 5,200 metres from the blue tees. The layout winds through a mix of open fairways and bush-lined holes, with several elevated tees offering panoramic views. The greens are well-maintained year-round, and the natural contours of the land make for an interesting and varied round.

Signature holes include the par-3 third, which plays downhill to a green framed by native bush, and the challenging par-4 sixteenth with its narrow fairway and tricky approach.

Green Fees

The club welcomes visitors and casual players. Green fees are very reasonable compared to city courses. Affiliated players from other clubs receive discounted rates. Electric and pull carts are available for hire from the pro shop, along with club hire for those who haven’t brought their own equipment.

Membership

Full membership options include 7-day, midweek, summer and junior categories. Membership provides access to club competitions, social events and reciprocal playing rights at other clubs. Many holiday homeowners opt for summer memberships which cover the peak visiting season.
